Benefits of Lime

For centuries lime has been used in construction, and it has proved itself to be durable and long-lasting. Lime is also a very beautiful material, its natural colour enhancing the look of a stone built wall.

Eco friendly

Lime is more eco-friendly than ordinary cement, as the lime manufacturing process produces less carbon dioxide than ordinary cement. Furthermore, it re-absorbs carbon dioxide, thus lowering its carbon footprint even further.

More forgiving

Lime is softer than modern cement, which means that it is less likely to wear away the surrounding masonry over time. Bricks and stones are also reclaimed more easily if dismantled.

Breathable

Lime is breathable, meaning it can absorb and evaporate moisture from surrounding masonry, which helps to protect the masonry and reduces the risk of salt and frost damage.

Flexible

Lime is more flexible than concrete, allowing for movement and thermal expansion.
