Background
WearLime began from a love of old stone houses which also suffer from damp problems!
My childhood home was notorious for huge containers placed in strategic places to catch the water coming through the walls during a storm.
Looking for a solution showed that it could be the use of cement as a mortar contributing to the problem and that lime - the traditional material - would solve it.
That led to months and months of research and study - wading through historical building journals and online research.
We then progressed to making our own lime, practising and experimenting with mix suggestions and materials to perfect lime putty, insulating lime plaster and lime wash.
Several years later and we now manufacture lime and insulating lime plaster in large quantities and have successfully restored and repaired old stone houses and managed to use it in modern builds too.
